O Mestre ensinou a fazer o Osoto Gari.

Experiencing JUDO
On 14th of March 2022, the 1.º PTIS went to the Sport Club União Sintrense to practise judo. Sport Club União Sintrense was founded in 1911 with football. More recently Judo was introduced in this club, more precisely in 2018 with the master Guilherme Kobayashi, grandson of the father of Judo in Portugal, Kiyoshi Kobayashi.
Kiyoshi brought judo directly from Japan to Portugal. Kiyoshi was born on 9th of April 1925, in Japan. His arrival in Portugal took place in 1958, with the intention of starting a project planned for two years, but which ended in 47 years of stay in the country. Master Kiyoshi Kobayashi, one of the highest graduates of the modality – 9th Dan, was one of the main responsible for the growth and development of the modality in Portugal.
Master Guilherme Kobayashi taught us a little about its practising, how to attack and to counterattack, how to respect each other and the real values of this sport.
Values of Judo:
– Reigi // Delicacy and Courtesy
– Yuki // Courage
– Makoto // Sincerity
– Meyo // Honor
– Kenkyo // Modesty
– Sonkei // Respect
– Jisei // Self-control
– Yûjyô // Friendship
Initially practised as a combat and defense exercise, judo acquired, in ancient civilizations, the character of an authentic sports discipline, whose objective was to achieve the perfect balance between the athlete’s body and mind. It’s considered the 2nd most completed sport. The 1st one is swimming.
It was really interesting and we have realized that judo is not only a sport but also a way of living, a philosophy.
